Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM Kissan Yojana) was launched by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the year 2018 on December 1. This was initiated to help the farmers of India to have minimum income support irrespective of the size of the farm. This scheme is supported by the Central government with 100% funding from them.
What is Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi For Farmers?
Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is a scheme initiated by the government of India aiming to furnish income support for the farmers irrespective of the size of the land they are holding. This 75,000-crore project aims to cover all small and marginal farmers up to Rs. 6000 every year as minimum support of revenue for the farm they are maintaining. This sum is payable every four months in three equal installments of Rs.2000. PM Kissan Yojana aims to benefit up to 125 million farmers of India, especially those of small and marginal stature.

The amount is not disbursed at once, it is done in three equal installments spacing out in a year. Hence beneficiaries receive Rs. 2000 every 4 months. Since the PM Kissan Yojana scheme does not restrict the usage of the fund they provide, farmers can use the money for numerous purposes.
- The allotment is directly coming from the Government of India, the amount of Rs. 17,000 crores is disbursed in the scheme’s beneficiaries’ bank accounts on 9th August 2020 via direct benefit transfer or DBT. The central government declared an allotment of Rs. 75000 crore per annum to be spent on this scheme.
How to Register?
Here are a few steps to register in the PM Kissan Yojana scheme:
- Every state government is supposed to nominate a nodal officer for PM Kissan Yojana, who is responsible to register the eligible beneficiary. Individuals are also eligible to register themselves for this scheme.
- Farmers can also approach agriculture assistants to register in the scheme.
- Local patwaris or revenue officers can also be approached by the farmers to register.
- By paying a fee, farmers can also enroll in this scheme through Common Services Centres.
- Farmers can also apply online by registering in the official portal as a new beneficiary. Submitting all the necessary documents required in the portal will enable them to enjoy the benefits.
