Plant Trees Say No To Plastic
The world has reached a point where it has become impossible to go on with day-to-day activities without plastic. From the laboratories, when the general population was introduced to this novel innovation, it took the markets by storm. It was simply the most convenient way to create short-term, usable stuff for everyday activities. From furniture to cutlery, everything was molded and created using this wonder material. Plastic factories came into being in every corner of the globe, and there seemed to be no stopping them. The world just assumed this was going to be the way of the future, and there seemed to be no turning back.
But when anything new is mass adopted, there is a great necessity to understand what the long-term implications of it would be. Among the most recent technologies, the innovation of plastic was the most disruptive back in the day. This chemical innovation, which was once thought to make humans’ lives easier, ended up causing the catastrophic disaster that we are currently facing.
Moreover, this issue is still only being debated by governments worldwide. Active solutions are being pursued only by ‘Save the Earth’ enthusiasts. The gravity of the situation is not equal in the minds of every human.
But why should we say no to plastic?
What’s the environmental price that we’re paying to use a straw to slurp on a drink and chuck it in the bin? What goes on after that? Hardly anyone is aware of the problems associated with recycling, and the more somebody knows about the subject, the worse their opinions are on the subject.
Plastic just isn’t recyclable.
Every government has tried. China is the most prominent player in the game of global plastic waste recycling. And it’s a game they lost. At one point in time, the US collected plastics and shipped them all the way to China, where they were supposed to recycle them. But regardless of how the logistics for this are planned, including the recycling economics, which constitutes labor, machinery, and a net positive outcome by converting the plastic waste back into usable plastic pellets, it was soon realized that this simply isn’t feasible. Moreover, the harmfulness of the process and this chemical as a whole was felt mostly by the many workers who died because of the toxicity involved in the recycling process.
One thing is clear: Nature did not create plastic. We did. Nature did not like it. The effect? The mass decline of the world marine population in a shockingly short span of time. What’s more? Microplastics thrive in our blood. Plastics have been traced down to the cellular level in humans sampled across the world.
Is there a way to get out of this mess?
Yes. Nature already has a solution that stands tall with pride in almost all forms of environments that exist here on Earth.
Trees!
When the world was formed by astronomical processes, it was a hot, boiling mess. Nature’s way of dealing with that was to nurture biological processes, which led to marine life, which then moved across to the terrestrial component of Earth. Temperatures were subsided by these miracle beings that cooled the entire world drastically over a great span of time. They became the lifeblood of the planet. They acted as the lungs for this Great Planet and purified the atmosphere so that trillions of beings could thrive and live.
We, as humans, tend not to think of the consequences of our activities. This human-centric attitude has immense costs associated with it. The price of which is being paid by Earth But shortly enough, the effects of chopping down forests are going to make nature helpless against this fight. Neither are we tending towards a solution nor are we letting the environment do its thing.
We have reached a juncture where we are at a point where we need to reverse the damages that we instilled on this Planet. The way to do that is to stop using Plastics as we know it. Another important thing that we need to do is to normalize the cultivation of forests. Planting as many trees as we possibly could as a society is important.
Planting Trees can undo the Damage!
Trees are very generous beings. Without them, the pleasant world cannot exist as we know it. The effects of global emissions that have constantly been on the rise since the 60s can be curbed if green patches are maintained within the city bounds. Moreover, the temperatures can be reduced on a society-wide scale.
There have been wide-scale disruptions in the climate as well. The reason for this could be pointed to the civilizational decisions taken by the global communities. Climate scientists can only study the changes that are occurring and can collect data regarding all the prominent factors. But they too can do little about the plan to halt this.
Say Yes to Trees and No to Plastic!
What can you do as a person? You can take charge of reducing your carbon footprint. Offset your carbon usage by planting trees. Only collective solutions are the way to affect a problem of such vast expanse. If you have ever stood by the beach and wondered about the scale of the world, then you must be able to comprehend just how much of a big issue this is. If such small animals as ourselves could cause such wide-scale disruptions via our operations, then we have a duty toward Mother Nature to take care of any and all consequences that arise out of them.
