The Kochi Water Metro is India’s first-of-its-kind project and one of the world’s most ambitious and innovative urban transportation facilities. The water-based public transportation facility connects the city’s islands, suburbs, and satellite towns through numerous jetties around the city through the vast network of backwaters, canals, and rivers.

Developed by the Kochi Water Metro Corporation (KWMC), a joint venture by the Government of Kerala and the Government of India is responsible for the construction, operation, and maintenance of the water metro system.
