How To Apply Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana In Post Office?
Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSJ) was set up by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the year 2015 under the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Yojana” for the well-being of a girl child.
Parents/ legal guardians can deposit in the SSJ scheme to raise for their future expenses and education. The account can be opened in the name of a girl child under the age of 10 and she can have access to the account when she reaches the age of 18 years or passed her 10th standard by submitting the necessary documents. SSJ scheme can be applied and opened across any post office or designated bank.
How To Open and Apply for Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana in the Post Office?
Let’s discuss the process to open and apply for the SSJ scheme in the post office:
- Visit any post office that is close to you.
- Fill up the account opening form at the Post office by following the steps:
- To start with, enter the post office branch name.
- If you have an account in the corresponding post office, you can enter the account details such as the account number.
- Under the option ” To the postmaster” enter the Post office branch as well the postal address details.
- Paste the applicant’s photograph on the right side of the form.
- Now, in the option “ I/We” , you can mention the name of the applicant.
- Skip the content box as it is only for the person who wants to open a new post office savings account.
- Under the section “Account Holder Type”, select the type of the account. You can seek help from the personnel at the post office in case you have any queries.
- Now, you can write the amount you are planning to deposit when the account gets activated. Mention the amount in words as well as figures.
- Enter further details such as the applicant’s name, address, gender, PAN, and Aadhar number in the table given.
- A signature is necessary at the end of page 1, to authorize the information furnished by the applicant.
- If you want to set standing instructions for the payment of your Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana account you can turn to page 2 Section (5).
- You can check the square box given, stating that under the name of this depositor, there is no other account opened.
- Nomination details can be added, don’t forget to mention the date and place.
- A signature is required at the end of this section too.
- If the applicant is illiterate, witnesses’ signatures from 2 persons should be obtained.
- Supporting documents can be attached along with proofs with the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana account form.
- Initial deposit can be done via cash, cheque, or demand draft.
When this process is done and submitted, the post office will confirm the application and issue a passbook, once the account is opened.
As of now, the Post office does not let you open a Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana account online. So do visit your nearest post office to get benefits. This is to ensure the betterment of girl children in their future, for a tenure of investment of 21 years.
