Poshan Government Abhiyaan – Jan Andolan
To achieve the status of a malnutrition-free country, Poshan Government Abhiyaan was introduced in India in the year 2018, by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The main aim is to have holistic development and enough nutrition for children, pregnant women, and mothers.
About Poshan Government Abhiyaan – Jan Andolan
The scheme aims to lessen the malnutrition stats by reducing the stunting in specified districts of India with elevated malnutrition cases by enriching the utilisation of key Anganwadi Services and improving the grade of Anganwadi Services delivery. Its purpose is to assure holistic growth and sufficient nutrition for pregnant women, mothers, and children.
The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) is implementing POSHAN Abhiyaan in 315 Districts in the first year and 235 Districts in the second year and further districts will be enclosed in the third year. There are several methods directly/indirectly influencing the nutritional condition of kids (0-6 years of age) pregnant females and lactating mothers. Despite these, the grade of malnutrition and interconnected crises in the country has increased. There is no absence of schemes but a scarcity of building synergy and linking the techniques with each other to accomplish a typical objective. POSHAN Abhiyaan through powerful confluence tools and additional elements would strive to develop the synergy.
Key Advantages
● The main advantage of the Poshan Government Abhiyaan – Jan Andolan is to focus on reducing the under-nutrition level and various problems related to that. This is done by ensuring the convergence of numerous nutrition-related schemes.
● It furthermore targets stunting, undernutrition, anaemia among young kids, females, and adolescent girls, and inferior delivery rates.
● The Poshan Government Abhiyaan will survey and study the enactment of all such strategies and employ living structural agreements of line ministries wherever functional.
● Its enormous element pertains to the incremental scaling-up of interventions funded by the ongoing World Bank-assisted Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Systems Strengthening and Nutrition Improvement Project (ISSNIP) to all neighbourhoods in the country by 2022.
● These are key Nutrition strategies and interventions IYCF (Infant and Young child feeding), Institutional Delivery, WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), Food and Nutrition, Immunization, Deworming, Food fortification, ORS-Zinc, Dietary Diversification, Adolescent Nutrition, Maternal Health and Nutrition, Convergence, Capacity Building, ICT-RTM (Information and Communication.
