Bharat’s Spirituality In The 21st Century
The human mind is a vast entity. In the current time scenario, every third social media handle has spiritual advice and recommendations from great spiritual masters who have gone through rigorous sadhanas and trainings.
The advent of this century has seen major social, economic, and technological advances. The realm of spirituality has also been sought out in a true humane sense. Spiritual wellness, where yoga and dhyana have become a fad and perhaps an integral part of many lives due to the surge of wellness influencers on social media,
From Osho, Buddha, Ramana Maharshi, Prabhupada, the present-day Sadhguru, Sri M, and many more spiritual personalities, we have seen madness in people invoking them to think and make them realize their true purpose in life.
Kaliyug, the present day, is slowly turning its pages into Satyayuga. Maybe in a few centuries, the world might enter the realms of Devayuga, where godly embodiment might happen in the human soul. The so-called superior beings, humans, enter the realm of an extreme, naturally high level of rationality. In industrial settings, technological advancements do not overtake time and exhaust all available resources.
Now the question that we should ponder over is:
Is the hype a true, envisioned reality? To certain extents, it is, but to a larger extent, it is a journey. More than considering it to be a cult practice, it should be viewed and adapted as a way of life, which is the main philosophy of Hinduism.
Being spiritual to gain some followers or please someone shouldn’t be the goal, but realizing the sense of life, the essence of life, mindfulness, and well-being The journey of being more humane and compassionate towards each other
What is supposed to make you more spiritual?
According to the yoga sutra, there are eight crucial steps or limbs.
- Yama(abstinences)
- Niyama(observances)
- Asanas (yoga postures)
- Pranayama (breath control)
- Pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses)
- Dharana(concentration)
- Dhyana (meditation)
- Samadhi(absorption)
In the 21st century, yogic practice has seen great advances in asanas, pranayama, and dharana processes. But that doesn’t mean the other limbs haven’t been discovered or explored. A true yogi and an exceptional spiritual master should have conquered or mastered all eight limbs.
